The Tyga “Coconut Juice” Remix Contest
“Jamglue is excited to bring you a remix contest featuring Decaydance recording artist Tyga.” That is the whole introduction the page gave. “Coconut Juice,” featuring Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes, went up on May 28, 2008 as five tracks: the contest mix, the vocal, and three instrumental layers.
It ran for nearly six weeks and became one of the largest contests in the archive: 76 entries in the first day, 1,591 a week after voting closed, and 1,603 by the last count. Tyga picked the winner and paid it off with a personal video shoutout.
One thing worth noting about the original: unlike every other contest page recovered here, this one carried no artist bio at all. The page simply named the label and got on with the stems.
The Materials
“Here’s what you have to work with.” The contest page listed the official contest mix plus four separate tracks:

What survives: the track list and the track IDs, from the archived contest page. None of the four files was ever crawled, so there is no audio to play here.
Licensing. The rules licensed the tracks under CC BY-NC-SA 2.5 with all rights not expressly granted reserved by Decaydance, required entrants to attribute Tyga and Decaydance, for example “Remix using elements from Tyga/Decaydance,” and required every entry to be published under the same license.
The Prizes
“The Grand Prize winning remix will be chosen by Tyga. The mix will be featured on Tyga’s MySpace, and the winner will get a personal video shoutout from Tyga. Five Popular Vote winners will be chosen by the Jamglue community. These winners will get cool stuff too!”
The official rules put the detail on the second tier: each of the five First Prizes was one Jamglue T-shirt and ten Jamglue stickers, approximate retail value $20.00. The Grand Prize was the video shoutout plus the MySpace feature, with no cash value listed.

Grand Prize
Bear Fight vs. Tyga - Coconut Juice Remix by BearFight
“This was Tyga’s personal favorite! The winning remix will be featured on Tyga’s MySpace and BearFight will get a personal video shoutout from Tyga!”
Runner-up
“This remix was Tyga’s pick for 2nd place. CodyGriz will get a Jamglue prize pack including a T-shirt and stickers.” The title says what it is: an acoustic cover rather than a remix, entered into a contest about chopping up stems, and the artist picked it second.
Popular Vote
“Our Popular Vote winners were chosen by you, the Jamglue community! Winners get a Jamglue prize pack including a T-shirt and stickers.”
What survives: the seven names, the seven titles, and an archived mix page for every one of them. The audio does not, and no copy of the video shoutout Tyga recorded for BearFight has been found.
