The Kidz in the Hall “Driving Down the Block” Remix Contest
On July 15, 2008, Jamglue put up the session for “Driving Down the Block,” the single from Kidz in the Hall’s The In Crowd, with Major League Entertainment and Duck Down Records. Five tracks went online: the contest mix and four stems, including the 808 on its own. Naledge and Double-O judged the Grand Prize themselves.
Entries ran 246 in the first three days and 802 by that November; the results page itself settled at 797. The original song’s video is one of the few pieces of this contest still playing anywhere, though it lives on YouTube rather than in the archive.
The Materials
“Here’s what you have to work with.” The contest page listed the official contest mix plus four separate tracks:
Driving Down the Block - Contest Mixmix 4306443
808track 4301637
Drumstrack 4301625
Synthstrack 4301639
Vocalstrack 4301649
What survives: the track list and the track IDs, from the archived contest page, plus the official contest mix’s own page. None of the four stem files was ever crawled, so there is no audio to play here.
The Prizes
“The Grand Prize winning remix will be chosen by Naledge and Double-O from Kidz in the Hall. Five Popular Vote winners will be chosen by the Jamglue community. These winners will get cool stuff too!”
The official rules spelled the Grand Prize out: one iPod Nano with a Kidz in the Hall skin and a preloaded audio shoutout from the group, one autographed copy of “In the Crowd,” and the winning remix featured on Kidz in the Hall’s MySpace and on DUCKDOWN.com. Each of the five First Prizes was one Jamglue T-shirt and ten Jamglue stickers, approximate retail value $20.00.

Winners
“The results are in, and our winners have been chosen!” The Kidz picked the Grand Prize and two runners up, and the community voted for the rest. Every name and title below is taken verbatim from the archived results page; each mix links to its own archived page.
Grand Prize
“This was the Kidz’ favorite! The winning remix will be featured on their MySpace and JayBea will get a personal audio shoutout from Naledge and Double O, delivered on an iPod Nano!”
JayBea took the community vote as well, which the page handled by widening the field: “We’re giving out 6 popular vote prizes instead of five, since one of the popular vote winners was the grand prize winner.”
Popular Vote
“Our Popular Vote winners were chosen by you, the Jamglue community! Winners get a Jamglue prize pack including a T-shirt and stickers.”

Driving Down the Block SOTA MUZIK REMIXSOTA_Muzik
What survives: the names and the titles, and archived mix pages for all but two of them. The mixes by ashare and SOTA_Muzik were never crawled as pages, only as fragments, so they are listed here without links. No audio survives for any entry, and no copy of the iPod shoutout Naledge and Double-O recorded has been found.
About Kidz in the Hall
The bio the label supplied for the contest page, quoted in full; it was two sentences long:

“The sons of the Golden Era of Hip Hop now take the reins at the forefront of the next great Hip Hop dynasty. Call ’em elitists, call ’em smart asses or arrogant, but they are definitely one thing for certain, DOPE.”

“Co-signed by Just Blaze, 3H (50 cent, Kanye West), and Matty C (Originator of Unsigned Hype), the Kidz music speaks volumes. It is no more evident than on their already critically acclaimed debut ‘School Was My Hustle.’”
